Maculabo Island is part of the Calaguas group of islands in Camarines Norte province of the Philippines. Though it is part of the Calaguas group, this island is under the jurisdiction of the municipality of Paracale. The island is about 4 kilometers long. Some part of the island is private and some part of the island is inhabited by locals whose main source of income are farming and fishing.

In the map, this island is situated north of the Bicol peninsula. This island serves as a major stop – over going to Tinaga Island where the Boracay like beach ,which is well known as Mahabang Buhangin, is located.

The mode of transportation is through a passenger boat that can be rented in the port in the town of Paracale, Camarines Norte. It is a 45 minutes to 1 hour boat ride depending on the speed of the boat.
Upon landing, visitors can notice how beautiful and powdered the sand is.

Aside from its white powdered sand, it has a huge block of rocks that rest in the side of the island. I was amazed by how the rocks were formed. Some rocks are flat and the color are well toned.

The sea water is clear and deep. It is not advisable for children to swim without the guide of elders because the sea water gets deeper and deeper with just few steps away from the sea side.

Be very observant also with the presence of sea snake because there was a sea snake during the night that I was here. There were also presence of jelly fish but scanty. I tried snorkeling but I had seen few fish and the corals were dead.
Sunset is spectacular here. I did not see the sunrise though because I was busy cooking for breakfast.

I was with my cousin when I went here. I was able to meet some new acquaintances and some new friends. Before I was very obsess with meeting new friends in the travel. But recently, I realized , while growing up, that friends are not meant to stay, so I learned to value and appreciate new acquaintances and friends even though I know that they will stay only for a short time.

Expenses in this travel was just 500 pesos each if by group of 10-20. The expenses were for boat rental and 2 day accommodation and foods.
Overall, the experience was great. I rate it as 10/10.
