I never thought that Jomalig is a beautiful island. And when I saw Jomalig in reality, the word beautiful became an understatement. It is because Jomalig island is really very beautiful.

Jomalig island is situated in the eastern part of the Philippines. To be able to arrive here, a boat is available and being rented in the port of Real, Quezon for 400 pesos each. There is a regular trip to Jomalig from this port except if there is a current typhoon.

It took us 6 hours to arrive at the island. Lunch is served in the boat and it is included in the fare.

The first thing that we do when we arrived was to secure a place where we can assemble our tents and we can cook our foods. We were able to find the right place and it was free because the owner of the place was my companion’s friend. The owner of the resort was a friend of my companion’s mother actually.
The primary transportation within the island is motorcycle. And a rent for motorcycle costs 600 pesos. It includes tour to 7 beaches with unique characteristics for each.

The whole island is surrounded by great beaches. One of my favorites was the one with golden brown sand.

It was my first to see such color of the sand. The texture of the sand is powdery, so it is safe if barefooted.
The whole island is clean and has electricity. There is also a cellular phone signal all through out the island.

There is also one beach which is suited for surfing because it is facing the Pacific Ocean that makes its waves much noticeable and bigger.
When the low tide comes, the other beach becomes a long stretch of sand where you can play around and run under the sun.

Jomalig has the best set of beaches that I have seen so far. In just one island, there are already many beaches to choose from. And the beaches are not spoiled yet. It is so refreshing to the eyes.

When I searched for Jomalig in the internet before we arrived here, usual pictures of this island show sandy beach with pine trees along the shore. It is very unusual to me to see this kind of setting, because pine tree usually grows in places of high altitude. So it is like Boracay meets Baguio City as a metaphor.

Aside from its beautiful beaches, sceneries under the sea are also amazing. Snorkeling can be one of the activities here.

Rock formation are scattered in some beaches. One of my favorite was the turtle rock.

One of the great characteristics of the sand here is that it is very fine and clean. One can really make a beautiful foot print in the sand photo here.

In this island you can see both sunrise and sunset amazingly.

There is a forest of fine trees where you can roam around secretly, because it is a private property.

Only few people are residing in this beautiful island that is why there is no crowdedness happening. Serenity is easily attained in this beach surrounded island.
Sea creatures here are in great number. Sea foods are bought in cheap price. This was my first to try the taste of lobsters and I was even able to grasp those by my bare hands. I thought at first that it is dangerous because of its claws, but there is really no danger handling it.

We were able to buy lobster for 700 pesos per kilo. Since we were four in the group, we bought a kilo and a half. That is already 6 pieces of lobster.

The easiest way to cook the lobster is to steam it. One of the resident here cooked for us for 40 pesos. She steamed it with Sprite soft drink. Yes the dish was juicy and flavorful and it became really my favorite seafoods since then.

Not only Jomalig is full of beaches but it has a wide plain ground too.

Birds are usually visible in some parts of the island. I saw some big birds flying freely.

We spent 3 days to enjoy Jomalig island. Jomalig remains my favorite island because of its diversity and peacefulness. It has a lot of beaches to offer and the seafoods are fresh and delicious. Lifestyle is simple but it has electricity and cellular phone signal even though it is a small island.
